SWF converter 90-day trail offer can be found at this website. I was not able to find any file converter that was totally free.
Video converted from SWF file to a WMV file and embedded here:
I can see where a file converter may be used in the classroom once in a while but not enough for the school to pay for it. Using a file converter relates to ISTE NETS T standard #2 Design and develop digital age learning experiences because of contemporary tools. If students were the ones actually performing the file conversion then ISTE NETS T #1 Facilitate and inspire student creativity and innovation by engaging students in exploring real world issues using digital tools would be met. Teaching Advanced Apparel Design requires the use of a computer software package that is a plug-in to Adobe Illustrator. All files are in the .ai format so a file converter would be very beneficial so students could send this files to their clients (if they were real clients)without their clients having to have Adobe Illustrator.

Jing
Adobe Illustrator's document window needs to be used with SnapFashun. Watch this video SnapFashun_Movie_Video Video was published with the help of Screencast.com.
">
The use of this video in the classroom will benefit students that have a tendency to forget this step. The use of Jing as an image movement capturing tool relates to ISTE NETS T standard #2 Design and develop digital age learning experiences because of contemporary tools. If students were the the ones actually preforming the file conversion then ISTE NETS T #1 Facilitate and inspire student creativity and innovation by engaging students in exploring real world issues using digital tools would be met. Teaching Advanced Apparel Design requires the use of a computer software package that is a plug-in to Adobe Illustrator. All files are in the .ai format so a Jing would be very beneficial so students could capture the image or even their working with SpanFashun to send to their clients (if they were real clients)or possible employers without them having to have Adobe Illustrator.

JING

This image is an image that was created using SnapFashun. You see the male image is known as a croquis (krō'kē)in the fashion industry. He was created using SnapFashun which is a plug-in to Adobe Illustrator 9.1, they are licensed together. His clothing was made the same way. This image can be created and printed when the two software programs are installed and running on the computer. (Changes can be made using Adobe Illustrator or the newer Adobe products like CS3 or CS4. But the templates for the clothing and the croquis are SnapFashun specific.) I could not print the black frame (known as the document window) around him. So with the help of Jing I was able to capture the image and add information to it. This will assist my students as a visual aide. How? Well I wanted to show the document window (the black frame) because this is one step my students forget to do. Without this frame my students can not create (therefore they get upset)or print such an image. Now with the screen capture I can remind my students to open a document window then began creating. In the video that I will post in a few day I will show this being done.

- Sample Content Question
Why are values important to you?
How has your values helped shape the person you are?
Description
This project will use the Intel Visual ranking Tool. (There are 25 students creating 5 teams , all were given a list containing their Team ID and password, and the web site address for the Intel Visual Ranking Tool.)
Day 1The students will read the articles about the Nichter family and the lost wallet. Once they have read the article they will discuss it and see if they can pick out values that were seen in the article.
Day 2The students will read the article "What's Important to You?". They will then discuss the article content. They will list the different places values can be acquired from. They will then rank the places values come form in the order from top down the one that they feel they got their values from. (There are no right or wrong answers. It is to help them understand that there are different values and they come from different places. The different places that values are acquired from in this article will be the titles of the ranking choices.
Day 3The students will use the Intel Visual ranking Tool.
The teacher ID: mksole63
Password are: A names; M names, J names, S names, and W names (The passwords are the students first letter of their first name and they are on the team with the same letter. Team A, Team J, Team M, Team S, and Team W) Students can click here to login and enter the above information.
We will work through the process so that the students can see how the ranking tool works. Then they will input their list that they created as a team into the ranking tool. Once all five teams have made their list the teams will take turns comparing with the other teams to see what correlations there may be and to discuss the outcomes.
The above 'What's important to you?' project sheet can be viewed by clicking here.
The following graphics will help the students stay on track. These graphics were made by using the Snipping tool in Windows. (Click on image to see larger view.)

Intel - Visual Ranking Tool Results Comparison
I was on team six. My team had the most correlation with team two and it was a 1.00 correlation.
My team had the least correlation with team three and there was a -0.70 correlation.
As for the class average my team had matched on three of the rankings which was a 0.90 correlation.
I can see where this tool would work as a study tool for a test review, as a tool for debates, and for general information ranking.

The Ranking of the Civil War:

After reading the article on Great American History and another article on wikipedia titled American Civil War I think I am ready to make my ranking.
1. The Presidential election of Lincoln was the final straw so to speak. He wanted to avoid war and just "allow slavery to die a slow, inevitable death"(Leidner). Lincoln and the unrest caused fear to grow.
2. States' Rights were used to defend slavery. The Northerners wanting to control the southern states and the Southern states were in fear of loosing their political power.
3. Slavery was an economic and a moral issue. Had it not been for slavery the secession may not have happened. But I don't think so.
4. Economic differences were many. Tariffs, the 3/5 clause, the invention of the cotton gin, the split over slavery all played large part in the war.
5. Rise of Abolition Movement in which abolitionists "were willing to make war in order to put an immediate end to the institution of slavery" (Leidner). A large amount of people had never seen a slave or even knew about slaves.
